Camp Corbett for All
Heart Speak Journeys and Eloise Koehler, Corbett’s mom, teamed up to create Camp Corbett for All, where kids who use AAC, and the people who love them, come together to learn how to understand each other. When camp ends, they’re confident talking one-on-one. That opens the door to real play and authentic friendships, without a parent interpreting or a grown-up running the show. Based on the original Camp Corbett, this community-based AAC immersion model transforms the child’s communication community into “AAC ambassadors” in the child’s home, school, and neighborhood.
Camp Corbett for All received funding for three pilot camps in the Portland Metro through June 2027. We are ever so grateful for the generous support of the James R. Kuse Family Foundation, the fiscal sponsorship of Community Vision, and Make-A-Wish Oregon, who granted a wish to bring the original Camp Corbett to life.
